Meru Cabs partners with major banks to provide essential employee commute

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare & National Informatic Centre, there are 6,565 active COVID-19 cases in India with 642 cured and 239 that have succumbed to the disease. 

In these trying times, Meru Cabs, an internet-based cab-hailing service has announced its collaboration with major banks across the country to enable essential commute for the bank employees. The banks that are included in the collaboration are SBI, Kotak Mahindra, Barclays, RBL and Union Bank. 

As per Government advisories most businesses, institutions and corporations have employed ‘work from home’ measures to ensure social distancing, but major Indian banks continue to function as per Govt. advisories and have implemented necessary measures to ensure the health and well-being of its employees. 

At this time of the hour, transport is a major cause of concern and since lockdown, the authorities have discontinued public transport in a bid to avoid infection transmission most people have resorted to using their own personal vehicle. In the case where an employee does not have a personal means of travel, Meru is providing essential travel services to these bank employees. 

Meru has deployed 200 cabs for the bank employees which is going to expand to 800 cabs in the coming weeks, says the company. To provide its customer’s a safe and healthy environment and to protect them Meru cabs is sanitizing its cabs with ‘Ozone Treatment’ that kills bacteria and viruses inside the cabin. Ozone treatment comprises of releasing O3 (Ozone Gas) inside the cabin which can permeate through seat fabric and can get into all the nooks and crannies of the vehicle’s cabin.

Apart from this, Meru has launched an initiative through which the brand is conducting distribution of face masks and hand sanitisers and distributing do’s and don’ts leaflets among driver-partners. Meru Cabs is also taking different steps to educate their driver-partners with various preventive measures such as using proper hygiene & sanitation techniques. 

Mahindra and Mahindra which is a major stakeholder of the Meru Mobility Tech PVT LTD has also announced free emergency cab services called ‘Alyte’ to disabled individuals, single mothers and senior citizens affected during the COVID-19 pandemic. The brand will also offer its services free of cost to Doctors, Nurses and other essential services providers.
