Meru Cabs App adds option for driver tips

The Meru cab app is now updated with an option through which the customer can tip the drivers directly via the app in a cashless transaction at the end of their ride. The customer will receive a notification to rate their ride experience on the Meru cab app and will be provided with an option of INR 10, INR 20 and INR 50 to tip the driver. The ‘No Tip’ option is selected as a default selection by the app. Upon selecting the tip amount, it will be deducted from the customer’s mobile wallet linked to the Meru app.

The Meru cabs offer their services in 24 cities across India and the company received numerous requests from customer’s who were willing to tip the drivers as a token of appreciation. Meru cabs offer local, hourly rentals, point-to-point and outstation services. The outstation services are provided to 100 cities and over 7,000 destinations.

In related news, Mahindra and Meru have announced a collaboration in which they will be launching a fleet of Mahindra eVerito electric vehicles (EV) in Hyderabad as part of a pilot project. The eVerito cab can be booked through Meru app, by logging on their website or calling their call centre at (4422-4422). The eVerito (EV) sedan can also be booked at Meru Zone at the Hyderabad airport. The fares on the electric vehicles will be same as their conventional internal combustion engine counterparts.

The Mahindra eVerito EV is powered by a 72V, three-phase electric motor that generates 40 BHP of power and 91 Nm of torque and can do a claimed top speed of 86 kmph and has a range of 110 km on a single charge. The battery on the eVerito electric sedan can be recharged to up to 80% in 1 hour 45 minutes using a fast charger. The running cost is claimed at INR 1.15 rupee per km as claimed by Mahindra.

The pilot project will be used as a learning phase and over the coming years the brand will add more EVs (electric vehicle) and extend their fleet to other cities in the near future.
