German luxury automaker Mercedes-Benz has announced the launch of its Mercedes-Maybach S-class Limousine in India on March 3rd, 2022. Based on the latest V223 S-class, the new Maybach S will sport an elongated wheelbase and luxurious cabin space. Via the virtual event, Mercedes-Benz will also reveal the entire details, variants, price, and features of the Maybach S-class. In the meantime, the company has provided images of the Maybach S-class, which showcases its exterior styling and design elements.
2022 Mercedes-Maybach S-class: Design Details
The 2022 Mercedes-Maybach does not stray far from the design of the standard S-class except for added luxurious elements. With a wheelbase that is 180mm longer than the long-wheelbase S-class, the Maybach S-class features a more prominent rear door. The limousine also sports Maybach-specific cosmetic tweaks which include the signature front grille with ‘Maybach’ lettering and unique wheel designs. Additionally, the luxury sedan also gets chrome elements on the front bumper, window sills, C-pillars, and rear quarter panels.
With a Mercedes-Benz tri-star badge mascot at the front, the Maybach S-class also gets a Maybach logo on the C-pillar. The images do not showcase the interior of the India-spec limousine, but it is likely to also sport Maybach-specific features. This includes unique cabin upholstery along with trim inserts and graphics for the touchscreen infotainment system and digital instrument cluster. Mercedes-Benz may introduce the Maybach S-class in two variants – S 580 and S 680, priced above the INR 2 crore mark.
2022 Mercedes-Maybach S-class: Expected Powertrain Options & Features
In line with other global markets, Mercedes-Benz will introduce the S 580 and S 680 variants with two engine options. Powering the S 580, which replaces the previous-gen S 560, is a 4.0-litre V8 developing 503 PS and 700Nm. This variant may also feature a 48V mild-hybrid system that provides an additional 20 PS and 200 Nm. Meanwhile, the top-spec S 680 will utilise a 6.0-litre, twin-turbo V12 engine putting out 612 PS and 900 Nm.
Mercedes-Benz is likely to pair both engines with the 9-speed automatic gearbox as standard along with air suspension for enhanced comfort. The luxury automaker may locally assemble the S 580 variant of the limousine at its Chakan facility located in Maharashtra. On the other hand, Mercedes-Benz may introduce the top-spec S 680 variant in India via the CBU import route. The Maybach S-class may also get the chauffeur package which includes powered rear seats, seat massage, and a boss mode.
