Mercedes-Benz’s EQS electric sedan will soon hit the Indian roads. The official Mercedes-Benz India website confirms the same as we can see the words “Coming Soon” written next to it. The EQS is the brand’s first all-electric luxury sedan. The car based on the new EVA (Electric Vehicle Architecture) will look to give Mercedes-Benz a head start into electric mobility. EQS is available with two variants namely EQS 450+ and EQS 580 4Matic. The electric car will first hit the U.S. market and the deliveries are expected to start from fall this year.

Mercedes-Benz EQS with two drive train option, rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive depending on the trim. The EQS 450+ gets a 245 kW power unit which produces 568 Nm of torque. The EQS 580 4Matic hauled by the 385 kW rated motor makes 855 Nm of torque. Power is channelled to all the four-wheel making use of a Torque Shift function wherein the torque is continuously distributed between the front and rear axles. There are reports suggesting that Mercedes-Benz is working on building a performance trim with a 560 kW powertrain as well.

The German automaker claims a range of 770 km driving range on a single charge with the 385 kW/855 Nm output powertrain. Mercedes-Benz claims to use a new generation of batteries which is of higher energy. There are two battery options, the larger 107.8 kWh or the smaller 90 kWh battery pack. EQS uses a 200 kW DC charger available at public charging stations meanwhile customers can also opt to charge the car at their home or office using a 22 kW AC charger.

Features

Being S-Class, we can expect that Mercedes-Benz will equip the car with all the latest tech. But the highlighting feature is a 56-inch touchscreen HyperMBUX dashboard. This screen consists of the driver instrument cluster, infotainment display and a touchscreen for the passenger together as a single unit. When the luxury car hits the Indian market, it will come at a premium pricing and we expect the EQS to retail at around INR 1.75 crore mark.
