Mercedes-Benz India has unveiled the facelifted version of its popular electric SUV, the EQB. Priced at INR 70.90 lakh (ex-showroom), the updated EQB comes with several enhancements, making it more appealing. Let’s take a look at what the changes are.

What’s New?

  1. Styling Tweaks: The EQB facelift features a refreshed design, including a new grille panel with Mercedes’ signature star pattern. The full-width LED tail lamps now sport a horizontal pattern, giving the SUV a distinctive look.
  2. Interior Upgrades: Inside the cabin, the star-patterned design extends to the dashboard and door trim pieces. The EQB facelift also boasts Mercedes’ new touch-capacitive three-spoke steering wheel and offers the option of open-pore wood trim.
  3. MBUX Infotainment: The latest MBUX infotainment system takes center stage, providing a seamless user experience. Additionally, the SUV comes equipped with a Burmester sound system featuring Dolby Atmos, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 360-degree camera, and ADAS Level 2 functions.
  4. Flexible Seating Options: Unlike the pre-facelift model, which was available only in a 7-seat configuration, the EQB facelift now offers both 5-seat and 7-seat variants.

Powertrain and Range

  1. EQB 250+: This variant features a 70.5 kWh battery pack with a single electric motor mounted at the front. It produces 190 hp and 385 Nm of torque. The smaller battery provides a WLTP-certified range of up to 447 km on a single charge.
  2. EQB 350 4Matic: Equipped with a dual-motor setup and all-wheel drive, the EQB 350 4Matic delivers a combined output of 292 hp and 520 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.2 seconds. The larger battery pack offers an impressive range of up to 535 km.
  3. Charging Times: Using a DC fast charger, the EQB facelift’s battery can charge from 10% to 80% in 32-35 minutes. Fully charging the EQB 350 4Matic trim takes approximately 6 hours and 45 minutes with an 11 kW AC charger, while the EQB 250+ trim requires about 7 hours and 15 minutes.

Market Position and Availability

The EQB facelift occupies a unique position in the Indian market, sitting above the recently launched EQA in Mercedes’ EV portfolio. While it faces no direct rivals, it competes with similarly priced electric vehicles like the Volvo XC40 Recharge and BMW iX1. Deliveries for the Mercedes-Benz EQB facelift are scheduled to commence in January 2025.
