Mercedes-Benz India sold 3,193 cars in Q1 2021

Mercedes-Benz which is the country’s largest luxury car manufacturer in terms of volume, announces its quarterly sales report. For the period of January to March 2021, the company sold a total of 3,193 new cars which translates to a growth of 34 per cent when compared to Q1 2020, which is from January to March 2020. The company mentioned that the sales in January and February remained at the pre-Covid level, which suggests that the company has now totally recovered after the unlocking period started.

Top Contributors For The Sale

The German luxury car manufacturer mentions that the maximum of the sales include, the A-Class Limousine, C-Class, E-Class sedans and GLC, GLE and GLS SUVs are also selling in good numbers, given the recent growing demand of SUVs in the market. The E-Class LWB was the highest selling product in Q1 2021, followed by the C-Class. In the SUV segment, GLE garnered the maximum sales. Even, with the growing demand for SUVs in the market, Mercedes-Benz, claims that its sedan portfolio contributed to 53 per cent of the sales volume followed by the SUV body type. Giving the current unprecedented times, 19 per cent of the new customers chose to opt for online booking in Q1 2021. The newly launched A-Class Limousine is getting a very positive response from the market and the company mentions that the deliveries of the sedan are already full for the month of April and May.

Keeping the recent spike in the COVID-19 cases in mind, Mercedes-Benz continues to encourage its employees to adhere to all the safety and health measures as mandated by the Government of India. Under the current national wide vaccination drive, Mercedes-Benz will offer free vaccination doses to all its employees and their family members leveraging the tie-ups with reputed hospitals in Pune. Mercedes-Benz expects a strong momentum in Q2 2021, with multiple new products for India debut on the cards, which will propel the sales figure.
