Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe launched in India at INR 62.70 lakh

German premium car manufacturer, Mercedes-Benz has just launched the new 2020 GLC Coupe in India at the price starting INR 62.70 lakh ex-showroom. The GLC Coupe is the fourth SUV offering from the brand in the last 4 months after the GLC 350d, GLC facelift and the new GLE. The new updated C-Class crossover SUV receives refreshed styling on the exteriors as well as the interiors and will be available in two trim variants in India – GLC Coupe 300 4Matic and GLC Coupe 300d 4Matic. 

On the outside, the new Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe features a diamond-patterned chrome-studded grille with an aeroplane inspired single slat and a large three-pointed star at the centre. A restyled front bumper with a wide chrome treated skid plate and faux aero ducts flanking its sides. The new car also features LED daytime running lights and new torch design multi-beam LED headlamps along with a raised bonnet. Coming to the side, the new GLC Coupe features the distinctive roofline that slopes back into the rear, 19-Inch alloy wheels, muscular wheel arches, a bold character line on the shoulder, chrome window sills, a rock guard cum entry step in aluminium finish, refreshed wraparound LED tail lights with a chrome treatment, body integrated spoiler effect, diffuser style bumper and angular exhaust tips. 

The interior of the new Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe features a dual-tone black and beige multilayered dashboard, an updated new-generation MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) telematics with a 10.25-inch freestanding centrally mounted touchscreen infotainment system with connectivity features and built-in navigation with augmented reality, a 12.3-inch colour digital driver’s instrument cluster, Mercedes voice command interface, Mercedes Me Connect, a large touchpad controller on the central tunnel, steering mounted controls with trackpads, contoured seat upholstery in beige, powered sunroof, ambient lighting, brushed aluminium finish on the door trim and around the rounded air-con vents, silver-finished toggle-style switches on the central dashboard area for the dual-zone climate control and a column gear shift selector.

The GLC Coupe comes powered by two engine configurations a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that generates 258 hp of power and 370 Nm of torque that can propel the car from 0-100 kmph in 6.3 seconds on the GLC Coupe 300 and a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel that produces 245 hp of power and 500 Nm of torque able to make the GLC sprint from 0-100 kmph in 6.6 seconds on the GLC Coupe 300d. Both the engines come mated to a 9G-Tronic (9-speed automatic) transmission and 4Matic all-wheel-drive system with 5 driving modes – Eco, Comfort, Individual, Sport, Sport+. Both the petrol and diesel engines are BS6 emission compliant.

In terms of safety, the GLC Coupe comes with active and passive features such as 7 airbags, Pre-Safe, 360-degree camera, active braking assist, emergency SOS button, park assist, an active bonnet that helps reduce injury to a pedestrian in case of a collision and other automotive standard safety features.

The new GLC coupe is the 8th SUV in the brand’s portfolio and 10th product which comes to India via the CKD (Completely Knocked-Down) route and the GLC Coupe will be locally assembled in India. The Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe 300 (petrol) is priced at INR 62.70 lakh ex-showroom and the 300d (diesel) is priced at INR 63.70 lakh ex-showroom. The GLC Coupe also comes with a first in segment 2year/unlimited Kms easy maintenance package at INR 67,300 and 77,300 for the GLC Coupe 300 and 300d respectively.

The GLC Coupe will rival the likes of the BMW X4 in the Indian market.
