Mercedes-Benz EQB coming to India in 2022

Written by Nizam Shaikh

Mercedes-Benz in 2021 revealed the new EQB under the brand’s Mercedes-EQ portfolio. The German car manufacturer retails all-electric cars through the Mercedes-EQ brand, which is also available in the Indian market. Currently, Mercedes-Benz retails the EQC all-electric SUV and plans to launch the EQS all-electric saloon in the Indian market.

Now, a media report suggests that Mercedes-Benz could also bring the EQB all-electric family size SUV to India in Q4 of 2022. Recently, we also reported that Mercedes-Benz had listed the EQB on the official Indian website. However, the company has since upgraded the website and removed the EQB from the listing.

What is the Mercedes-Benz EQB?

The Mercedes-Benz EQB is based on the Mercedes-Benz GLB 7-seater SUV. The all-electric version of the three-row family car comes with a blanked front grille, a wraparound LED taillamp and a chunky Mercedes-Benz three-point star on the front. The front fascia also comes with a LED light bar that stretches across the front. The SUV also retains its brawny design by offering power bulges on the bonnet and squared wheel arches.

However, the brand has managed to achieve a drag value of 0.28 Cd, although the car measures 4684mm in length, 1834mm in width, and 1667mm in height. The 7-seater will feature three rows of seats with 2829mm of wheelbase that is similar to the GLB SUV. Mercedes-Benz also claims that the third row can accommodate small children or people with 1.65 metres of height.

Mercedes-Benz EQB – Powertrain

In the international market, the Mercedes-Benz EQB comes with two powertrain options. EQB300 with a 4Matic dual motor configuration that produces 225 Bhp of power and an EQB350 with 4Matic dual motor that makes 288 Bhp of power. The brand offers a 66.5 kWh battery that is capable of offering a range of 419 km on a single charge according to the WLTP cycle. The brand is likely to bring the top-spec EQB350 to India when it introduces the EQB.
