Mercedes-Benz India offers the largest SUV line-up in the luxury car segment and now to further strengthen its SUV portfolio the brand has added two new variants to the popular GLE long-wheelbase model with the new Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 4Matic LWB (Petrol) priced at INR 88.80 lakhs ex-showroom, India and GLE 400d 4Matic LWB (Diesel) priced at INR 89.90 lakhs ex-showroom, India.
The Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 4Matic LWB is powered by a BS6-complaint M 256 in-line six-cylinder petrol engine that makes 376 Hp of power and 500 Nm of torque with an additional 22 HP and 250 Nm via EQ Boost which is a 48-volt electrified Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) system. The power is transmitted via a 9G-TRONIC automatic gearbox and a 4Matic all-wheel-drive system with VTD (Variable Torque Distribution). The SUV can sprint from a standstill to 100 kmph in 5.7 seconds and achieve a top speed of 250 kmph.
The Mercedes-Benz GLE 400d 4Matic LWB is powered by a BS6-compliant OM 656 in-line six-cylinder diesel engine that produces 330 Hp of power and 700 Nm of torque matched to a 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission and a 4Matic all-wheel drive with VTD. The GLE 400d 4Matic LWB can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 5.7 seconds and achieve a top speed of 245 kmph.
Both the GLE 450 4Matic LWB and 400d 4Matic LWB feature the same design features on the exterior and interior features similar to the current generation GLE LWB. The GLE 450 4Matic LWB and 400d 4Matic LWB feature an imposing double-bladed chrome-accented grille with the Mercedes-Benz three-pointed star in the centre, MultiBeam LED headlamps with Ultra Range High beam and Intelligent Headlight Control Plus, double inverted tick-mark LED daytime running lights integrated into the headlamp units, layered front apron with a wide air dam, chrome-accented skid plates on the front and rear, muscular bonnet design with raised ridges, squared-off wheel arches with plastic claddings, 20-inch 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels, wraparound LED taillamps, roof rails and a panoramic sunroof.
On the interiors, the GLE 450 4Matic LWB and 400d 4Matic LWB feature Anthracite open-pore oak wood trim inside the cabin, latest-generation infotainment with MBUX NTG6 featuring “Hey Mercedes”, Hard-Disc Navigation, Smartphone Integration, Widescreen Cockpit, 4-Zone climate control AC, electrically adjustable front and rear seats, Electric Sun Blinds, Wireless Smartphone Charging, illuminated aluminium running boards along with safety features such as Auto Park Assist 360 degree surround-view camera, Blind Spot Assist, Active Brake Assist etc.
The current GLE LWB range comprises of the BS6 GLE 300d 4Matic LWB and the top-end CBU GLE 400d 4Matic LWB Hip Hop variants.
