Mercedes-AMG reveals CLA 45 and CLA 45 S

Mercedes-AMG has revealed the new CLA 45 and CLA 45 S sedans which are the performance-oriented derivatives of the second generation CLA sedan. The Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 and the CLA 45 S will be differentiated from the CLA 35 AMG by having styling and mechanical updates.

In terms of styling, both the CLA 45 and the CLA 45 S feature vertical slats on the grille, sporty bumpers with large air intakes and an integrated splitter, muscular wheel arches, 18-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels on the CLA 45 and 19-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels on the S variant. The rear gets a boot-lid mounted duck-tail spoiler, a large diffuser, quad exhaust finishers, wraparound taillights, and aero ducts on the bumpers. 

On the inside, the CLA 45 and the CLA 45 S receive a Mercedes MBUX operating system for the infotainment system with a digital instrument console. The car gets Mercedes-AMG bucket seats and sporty AMG steering wheel. And the cabin is finished in black with the CLA45 S gets yellow accented seats for differentiation.

In the engine department, the CLA 45 and the CLA 45 S employ the M139, 2.0-litre, turbocharged, 4-cylinder petrol engine offered in two states of tune. On the standard model, the engine develops 387 HP of power and 480 Nm of torque and on the S variant the engine produces 421 HP of power and 500 Nm of torque. The engines can propel the cars to the electronically limited speed of 250 kmph and 270 kmph, respectively. The car can also sprint from 0-100 kmph in 4.1 seconds on the CLA 45 and in 4.0 seconds on the CLA 45 S variant.

The gearbox is an 8-speed automatic with a 4Matic+ four-wheel drive system and the cars come with AMG Dynamic select modes – Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Slippery, Individual and Race. The CLA 45 S also gets a Drift mode which sends the majority of the power to the rear wheels and the same is available on the standard CLA 45 as an option. 

As of now, no official announcements have been made on the cars coming to India.
