Mass production of Renault Kiger starts in India, dealer dispatch begins

Renault India has started manufacturing the just launch Kiger B-SUV at the brand’s state-of-the-art facility in Chennai. The company also initiated the dispatch of the first lot of the Kiger SUV to its network of over 500 dealerships in India.

Exterior

In the global unveil the concept study of the car made its debut for the first time and from outside, the car just looks amazing and some might call it a buffed-up version Kwid from certain angles which is a good thing because Kwid is arguably the best looking car in its segment. The Kiger is the result of the collaboration between Renault India and the Corporate design teams in France. In the front, the SUV comes with a very appealing fascia and the trademark LED DRLs of the Renault giving it a striking look. The LED headlight sits low on the bumper with its body cladding running all the way around the car to give it the SUV finish. The car comes with C-shaped LED taillights and wing-style spoiler that completes the rear profile of the car. In terms of overall dimensions, the Kiger is 3,991 mm in length, 1,750 mm in width and 1,600 mm in height. The ground clearance of the SUV is 205mm with a wheelbase of 2,500 mm.

Interior

On the inside, Renault the Kiger comes with a host of features like a centrally mounted touchscreen, wireless phone charging, automatic climate control air conditioning and steering mounted controls to name a few. The boot size of 405 litres is pretty big and Renault is advertising Kiger’s 29-litres of in-cabin storage space a lot. In terms of safety, Kiger gets driver and passenger-side airbags, ABS with EBD and Electronic Stability Program as standard.

Under the Hood

Powering the Renault Kiger are two engine options; a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor rated at 72 PS of power and 96 Nm of torque and 1.0-litre turbo petrol which makes 100 PS of power and 160 Nm of torque. There are three gearbox options, a 5-step CVT automatic, a 5-speed Easy-R AMT automatic and a 5-speed manual transmission.

Price and Other News

The pricing is expected to be officially announced at the launch event of the Kiger which will happen sometime very soon. But what we anticipate is that the Kiger will be priced very similar to that of its sibling Nissan Magnite which starts at INR 5.48 lakhs (ex-showroom).
