Suzuki is planning to introduce a new petrol engine in the Swift hatchback. Dubbed as the ‘Dualjet’, this 1.2L petrol engine will be launched in the international markets in 2015.
This new engine is currently under evaluation and is supposedly better than the current 1.2L K series engine in terms of effieiency and emissions. Instead of one fuel injector per cylinder, the Dualjet engine opts for two injectors. This means that each of the 8 intake ports in the 16-valve engine gets its own injector. Suzuki has also redesigned intake ports, combustion chambers and piston crowns, oil cooling jets, new exhaust circulation system, start-stop system etc.
Power figures however have reduced from previous 93 BHP to 89 BHP, but torque has increased to 12.3 kgm from 12 kgm. It will be interesting to see if Maruti Suzuki plans to bring this engine to the Indian market.
