Maruti Suzuki XL6 front-design different from Ertiga

Written by Parichay Malvankar

One glance on the picture above, and every one can notice that the Ertiga-based XL6 has a bolder front-end design. The XL6 is a new crossover MPV / MUV which will retail via the premium Nexa showrooms. Maruti Suzuki will launch the XL6 in August 2019 and will be priced at a premium compared to the Ertiga, expect nearly INR 50,000 more, variant to variant.

Spyshots reveal, that the 2019 Maruti Suzuki XL6 for Nexa will get a new hexagonal front grille, twin chrome slats on the front grille with a Suzuki logo, new headlamp design with chrome accents and smoked effect, LED DRLs, LED fog lamps, new bonnet crease lines, chunky fog lamp housing with body cladding, silver faux skid plate effect, new air dam, and the likes.

We have already seen the rear profile of the car where one could notice the reprofiled bumpers, new badging and on the side one can see body cladding, silver accents on the lower body cladding, roof rails and dark themed alloy wheels.

Inside, the Ertiga-based XL6 will get all-black interiors and a 6-seater layout.

Engine under that hood would be a 1.5L, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated block which will be BS6 compliant. The engine will come matched to a 5-speed manual / 4-speed automatic gearbox. Rumours suggest that the XL6 might not get a diesel engine option, at least at launch.

The highlight of the XL6 is the 2nd row seat. Here, there will be 2 captain seats, and not a standard 3-seater seat bench. This will offer better comfort and better touring abilities to the XL6, compared to the Ertiga, but only with respect to occupant comfort. The XL6 is also expected to ride a little higher, thanks to better ground clearance so that it is rough road friendly.

It remains to be seen how many buyers will line-up to buy the XL6 over the Ertiga. The Indian market loves a design which hints to an SUV, and the XL6 is an attempt to boost sales by doing just that in the cosmetic department.
