2020 Maruti Suzuki Ignis pre-launch bookings open, petrol-only

At the Auto Expo 2020, India’s leading car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has unveiled the all-new compact urban SUV, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis. Maruti Suzuki India has also announced the commencement of pre-launch bookings on the all-new Ignis at NEXA showrooms across the country.

The new Ignis comes with a revamped front fascia which now has a more imposing SUV like features, a new u-shaped front grille, projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights, silver skid plate on the bumper, fog lamps, flared wheel arches that give it a wide-body look and a muscular appearance, black multi-spoke alloy wheels, roof rails and a spoiler. 

On the interiors, the all-new Ignis features a centrally mounted 17.78cm SmartPlay Studio infotainment system with live traffic, voice recognition, driver safety alerts, voice recognition and cloud connectivity. The interiors also feature a black and ivory dual-tone with a new pattern on the seat fabric. The central tunnel features a blue highlighted panel around the shift lever.

Powering the Ignis is a BS6 compliant 1.2-litre VVT petrol engine that generates 82.9 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox with an option of an Auto Gear Shift (AMT) transmission. The Ignis is 3700mm long, 1690mm wide and  1595mm tall with a wheelbase of 2435mm. The car gets a boot space of 260-litres and can seat 5 people.

In terms of safety, the Ignis SUV features high tensile steel parts for a major part of the body in conjunction with Suzuki’s Total Effective Control Technology (TECT) that allows absorption and dispersion of crash energy. Seatbelts with pretensioner and force limiters, pedestrian protection compliance, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child anchorage system and other automotive industry-standard features such as seatbelt reminder, reverse sensor, over-speed alert system etc.

The all-new Ignis is available in two new colours Lucent Orange and Turquoise Blue apart from the existing Nexa Blue, Silky Silver, Glistening Grey and Pearl Arctic White. Maruti Suzuki also offers two customisation options on the new Ignis – Acropolis and Scorcher theme. In addition to the customisation options, the new Ignis also comes with three new dual-tone paint options – Lucent Orange with black roof, Nexa Blue with black and Nexa Blue with Silver roof.
