Maruti Suzuki sold 1,30,699 cars in August 2021

Maruti Suzuki releases its sales report for August 2021. The company sold a total of 1,30,699 vehicles in the given period. The sales figure breaks down as 1,05,775 units for the domestic market, 20,619 units as export and 4,305 units to other OEMs. Maruti Suzuki mentioned that the production of new vehicles was affected due to a shortage of supply of electronic components in the global market.

Detailed Sales Break-Up

In the mini passenger vehicle segment, which comprises the S-Presso and Alto, the total units sold were 20,461. Whereas the figure for August 2020 stood at 19,709 units. The compact passenger vehicle segment includes WagonR, Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno, Dzire and Tour S. This segment sold 45,577 units for August 2021. Whereas the figure for August 2020 stood at 61,956 units. The mid-size, which currently comprises only the Ciaz, sold a total of 2,146 units for the given period. Whereas for August 2020, the figure stood at 1,223 units.

The utility vehicle segment includes the likes of Ertiga, S-Cross, Vitara Brezza, XL6 and Gypsy. This segment sold a total of 24,337 units in August 2021. Meanwhile, for August 2020, Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 21,030 units in this segment. The van segment, which comprises Eeco, sold over 10,666 units for August 2021, as against 9,115 units for August 2020. The light commercial vehicle, which comprises Super Carry, sold a total of 2,588 units, as against 2,292 units in August 2020.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno will soon get a generation update. Recently some spy shots of the heavily camouflaged car resurfaced on the internet. The hatchback will get updated exteriors and interiors. And we are expecting that Maruti Suzuki won’t make changes to the mechanicals. Maruti Suzuki had planned to launch the new-generation Celerio this month. But, as per the latest news, the carmaker has delayed the launch due to the unavailability of semiconductors chips. Maruti Suzuki has also hiked the price of its range of products, making it the third time in the last 8 months.
