Maruti Suzuki S-Presso will be positioned as a micro-SUV

Another new budget car coming to the showrooms of India’s largest car manufacturer. The S-Presso which first debuted as the Concept Future S at the Auto Expo has now turned to reality. Ahead of the official launch later this month, images have now leaked online showing us how the car will look like. We showed you the front end design of the car yesterday, and this article speaks about the rear-end styling of the S-Presso.

Based on these spyshots, seems like the white coloured version is the base model, thanks to the black flap type door handles and the blue painted S-Presso could be the higher variant on offer. Prominent design highlights on the rear profile include a C-shaped tail lamp illumination, recessed reflector strip, healthy dose of body cladding on the bumper, crease line on the tail gate, high mount stop lamp on the inside of the windscreen, Suzuki badge, keyhole for opening the boot and number plate housing on the bumper. Overall the side profile of the S-Presso looks quite tall, which will allow for more room on the inside.

Maruti Suzuki is going to sell the S-Presso with a BSVI engine. This could be the first all-new model from the brand which launches with a new BSVI motor from day 1. This micro-SUV will have a 3-cylinder engine matched to a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox option.

The S-Presso is expected to be positioned between the Alto and the WagonR. Rightly so, it will offer more space than the Alto and a little less than the WagonR. Standard features will include driver airbag, seat belt reminder, rear parking sensor, speed alert system and ABS. Inside, expect fabric seats, manual AC controls and a touchscreen infotainment with bluetooth connectivity on the top variant.

Primary rival to the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is the Renault Kwid which redefined the budget hatchback segment with its SUV-inspired design.
