Maruti Suzuki offers ESP standard on Alto K10 & S-Presso

Written by News Team

In a significant step towards enhancing vehicle safety, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has announced that the Electronic Stability Program+ (ESP) will now be a standard feature across its entire passenger vehicle lineup. The latest models to receive this safety upgrade are the Alto K10 and S-Presso.

Democratizing Advanced Safety Features

By incorporating ESP as a standard feature without raising the prices of the Alto K10 and S-Presso, the company is ensuring that safety is not compromised by cost. “The addition of Electronic Stability Program+ as a standard feature on Maruti Suzuki product portfolio aligns with our endeavour to democratize advanced features,” said Mr. Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales at Maruti Suzuki India Limited. “This step significantly increases the value proposition of our vehicles, ensuring that our customers enjoy enhanced safety through improved driving confidence regardless of the model they choose.”

What is Electronic Stability Program+?

The Electronic Stability Program+ is a sophisticated safety system designed to prevent vehicles from skidding, thereby improving overall driving stability and control. It integrates several key technologies, including the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Traction Control System (TCS), and Stability Control (SC). These systems work together to monitor and manage the vehicle’s motion, using a series of sensors that continuously measure factors such as speed, steering angle, and yaw rate.

When the system detects a potential loss of control, it automatically applies the brakes to individual wheels and adjusts engine power to help the driver maintain control. This is particularly beneficial in challenging driving conditions, such as wet or slippery roads, where the risk of skidding is higher.

A Comprehensive Safety Suite

ESP+ is now part of Maruti Suzuki’s extensive safety suite, which also includes dual front airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), reverse parking sensors, engine immobilizer, and the HEARTECT platform, which provides enhanced crash protection. Additionally, the cars are equipped with a collapsible steering column, further ensuring passenger safety in the event of a collision.
