Internally code-named as the Y9T, Maruti Suzuki is expected to enter the LCV segment in India with this mini pick-up truck. The Y9T will be pitched against the Tata Ace, Mahindra Maxximo & Ashok Leyland Dost.
Gaadiwaadi.com has released a couple of pictures showing the Y9T pick-up’s unpainted body shells, which are being claimed to have been shot inside the company’s factory premises.
Images indicate that this pick-up will be based on the Suzuki Carry which is sold in various markets globally under different names. The front end however bears an uncanny resemblance to the Maruti Omni, may be for parts sharing to keeps the costs under check.
Maruti is going to power the Y9T with a new 800cc twin-cylinder diesel engine, which it will also plonk in the recently launched Celerio hatchback & also in the Eeco. Both, the Y9T & the Celerio diesel are expected to be launched in this financial year, the Eeco might come sometime later.
