Maruti Suzuki has revealed that they have sold more than 3 lakh cars equipped with an AMT gearbox. Dubbed as Auto Gear Shift (AGS), Maruti Suzuki has pioneered this gearbox technology in the Indian mass market cars and have set a target of further dispatching 2 lakh more units in the current fiscal equipped with AMT.

Since 2014, the contribution of AMT / AGS cars in India has tripled for Maruti Suzuki.

For now, the cars which come equipped with AMT / AGS includes the Alto K10, WagonR, Celerio, Swift, Ignis, Dzire and the Vitara Brezza.

Offering ease of driving, the AMT gearbox offers just the same convenience as an conventional gearbox, but at a much lower acquisition cost. People are loving this 2-pedal driving technology from Maruti Suzuki, and the brand plans to keep pushing this feature to the masses.

Maruti Suzuki first introduced AMT / AGS with the Celerio back in 2014. As of now, it is still the Celerio which commands highest sales in Maruti Suzuki’s AMT equipped portfolio with a share of 43%. For Ignis & Dzire, AMT variants account for 28% & 17% sales respectively.
