Maruti Suzuki has announced a new milestone. The Indian carmaker has sold 1 lakh units of the SUV in under a year. Thus, it is the first midsize SUV to reach this milestone.
Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara : More Details
The Grand Vitara arrived in the Indian market back in September 2022. It is available in two trim levels – Smart Hybrid & Intelligent Electric Hybrid. The former is a mild-hybrid, and the latter a strong-hybrid. The Smart Hybrid trim is available in 4 variants. These are – Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. Except for the base Sigma variant, all other variants are also available with an automatic transmission. Furthermore, the top-spec Alpha variant is also available with Suzuki’s AllGrip Select 4WD system. However, it is available only with manual transmission.
On the other hand, the Intelligent Electric Hybrid trim is available in two variants. These are – Zeta+ & Alpha+. Unlike the mild-hybrid powertrain that is available with a manual transmission, the strong-hybrid is only available with a CVT transmission.
Other features include colored Head-Up Display, 360-degree parking camera system, ventilated seats, a SmartPlay Pro+ Infotainment system, Wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, and in-built Next Gen Suzuki Connect, with 40+ connected features.
Safety features include ABS with EBD, 6 airbags, Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS), Isofix child seat anchors, seatbelt alerts and more.
Powertrain of the Maruti Grand Vitara
The SUV is currently available with two engine options. First is a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid that makes 102 BHP and 137 Nm. Second is a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder petrol strong-hybrid powertrain. An all-wheel drive option is also offered with the non-hybrid powertrain with manual transmission.
Maruti also added a CNG variant of the car earlier this year. The Grand Vitara S-CNG uses a 1.5-litre engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. It makes 87 BHP and 121.5 Nm when running on CNG.
