Maruti Suzuki has been exporting Made-in-India Fronx to the international market. The Fronx for the international market are produced at the Suzuki Motor Group (SMG) Gujarat which also produces the Fronx bound for the Japanese market as well. However, the Fronx for the Japanese market comes with a 1.5-litre engine with mild hybrid technology that is not available on the Fronx in India. But that’s not it, the Fronx bound for Japan also comes with Suzuki’s All Grip Select 4WD technology as well as ADAS.
Suzuki Fronx AllGrip Select (AWD)
The Suzuki Fronx for the International markets, built at the SMG Gujarat come with multiple variants. This includes a 5-speed manual as well as a 6-speed torque converter variant. While there is no AllGrip Select badging on the car, the higher trims of the Fronx get the mid-level all-wheel drive system. The AllGrip Select is positioned below the AllGrip Pro which is available on the Jimny in India and is quite capable. Even in the Select avatar the AWD system comes with Auto, Sport, Snow and Lock modes. The modes change the throttle response of the vehicle offering more traction and control especially on low traction surfaces. The electronically controlled modes can be easily changed through the push of a button on the centre console. The suspension setup on the AWD Fronx is also different than the standard to accommodate the additional drivetrain system.
Suzuki Fronx ADAS
The Japanese-spec model also comes with an ADAS suite offering features such as automatic emergency braking and lane-keeping assist. The Fronx for the Japanese market also comes with front parking sensors and an electronic parking brake with hill-hold. The crossover also comes with features such as adaptive cruise control, heated seats, and some other unique features specifically for the Japanese market. In addition to the ADAS features, the interiors of the Japan-spec Fronx are different from the standard. The car comes with a dark brown and plum interior theme and features soft-touch materials all over the inside. The door handles as well as the centre console comes with a piano black finish to add to its premiumness.
