Maruti Suzuki’s first electric SUV has been spotted testing abroad. The eVX is the all-electric SUV that will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta EV. Maruti had showcased the concept of this car at the 2023 Auto Expo.
Maruti Suzuki eVX : More Details
Spotted in Krakow, Poland, the SUV is expected to go on sale by 2025 in India. The car appears to be undergoing testing. The eVX is being co-developed by Toyota and the Poland testing could be the reason due to Toyota’s presence in the country.
The car has heavy black camouflage. It is expected to measure 4.3m in length and has a 2.7m long wheelbase. Overall, the SUV appears pretty close to its concept design. However, some of the design elements have been made more palatable.
The eVX gets a wide stance with prominent shoulder lines. These merge into the tail lights at the back. The front comes with a pretty upright bonnet and large headlamps. There is a large grille which is covered off. It is likely to be blank as with EVs.
It seems that the rear door handles are located on the C-pillars, just like the Swift. Despite being an SUV, the roof slopes down like a coupe towards the rear.
Maruti Suzuki eVX : Interior Details
The dashboard of the car gets a tall design along with vertically oriented AC vents . There is touchscreen infotainment along with a rotary dial. Few physical buttons are positioned vertically in the centre.
The steering wheel comes with a two-spoke design. We can also see a lot of components from the Toyota parts bin. These include the window switches, seat adjustment buttons and more. Looks like Maruti wants to keep the car very un-Maruti like.
Other features include a rim-less IRVM and a 360-degree camera.
Powertrain details of the Maruti Suzuki eVX
Based on an all-new EV platform, details are pretty scarce. According to sources, the car could come with a 60 kWh battery. This could give it a range of around 550 km. Maruti could offer a lower 48 kWh unit with 400 km range as well.
That said, the production ready version is going to be manufactured at the company’s Gujarat plant. The car will be sold in both local and international markets. It is likely to spawn a Toyota version as well.
