Maruti Suzuki eVX electric SUV revealed as ‘E Vitara’, coming soon to India

Written by News Team

Maruti Suzuki has officially revealed the production version of its eVX electric SUV concept, now named the “E Vitara,” during a debut event in Milan. This electric SUV is Maruti Suzuki’s first fully-electric model aimed at the Indian market and will enter the midsize SUV segment.

Design and Dimensions

Staying true to the original eVX concept showcased at the Auto Expo 2023, the E Vitara features a muscular design with bold contours, dark cladding along the base, and distinctive tri-slash LED daytime running lights. The SUV retains conventional SUV proportions without extensive aerodynamic shaping, maintaining a rugged two-box silhouette. Dimensions of the E Vitara measure 4,275mm in length, 1,800mm in width, and 1,635mm in height, with a 2,700mm wheelbase that allows for spacious interiors and efficient battery placement. Ground clearance is set at 180mm, keeping it suitable for various Indian road conditions.

Powertrain and Range

The E Vitara will offer two battery configurations: a 49kWh base model and a 61kWh option. The larger battery is expected to provide a range of over 500 kilometers, aligning with the demands of Indian consumers seeking extended mileage. The entry-level model will have a single motor on the front axle, generating 144 hp, while the 61kWh version will produce 174 hp. Additionally, an all-wheel-drive (AWD) model, known as the AllGrip-e, will combine front and rear motors for a total output of 184 hp and 300Nm torque. This AWD version will also feature an off-road-oriented Trail mode for enhanced traction.

Features and Interior

Inside, the E Vitara includes a dual-screen infotainment and instrument cluster, a floating center console, and a minimalist dashboard. The SUV is expected to come with advanced connectivity options, including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an electronic parking brake, hill descent control, and adaptive cruise control. Safety features are likely to include side and curtain airbags, lane-keeping assist, and other ADAS functions.

Competing with popular models such as the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, and upcoming Hyundai Creta EV, the E Vitara is expected to launch in India in March 2025, following its first domestic showcase at the Bharat Mobility Show in January.
