The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has been a mass market favourite MPV for years. Not only have passenger car owners appreciated the no nonsense ownership of the Ertiga, but even fleet buyers have faith in this people mover. Now, Maruti Suzuki has revealed that the Ertiga MPV has clocked a total sales of 5 lakh cars in 8 years since it was introduced. The Ertiga is now in its 2nd generation avatar and is much bigger than the original model adding more value. The company claims that almost 28% buyers of the Ertiga are repeat buyers highlighting the faith in this product.
The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is a 3-row MPV 7-seater MPV and has a total market share of 36% in the segment. The new generation Ertiga was launched in 2018 and it is built on the 5th generation HEARTECT chassis which improves the safety quotient of the body structure. The Ertiga also comes with features such as dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, parking sensors, etc. as standard on all variants.
Maruti Suzuki retails the Ertiga in petrol, diesel and CNG fuel options.
Powering the Petrol Ertiga is a K15B Smart Hybrid motor which is a 1,462cc, 4-cylinder engine producing 77 kW of power @ 6000 RPM and 138 Nm of torque @ 4400 RPM matched to a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic gearbox. The company claims a mileage of 19.01 kmpl for the manual and 17.99 kmpl for the automatic variant. This is the only motor which has been upgraded to BS6 standards so far.
The Diesel Ertiga has a DDiS 225, 1498cc, 4-cylinder, turbocharged motor producing 70 kw of power @ 4000 RPM and 225 Nm of torque @ 1500-2500 RPM matched to a 6-speed manual gearbox and mileage claim of 24.20 kmpl.
The CNG Ertiga gets the K15B petrol motor which produces the same power and torque in petrol mode which is 77 kW and 138 Nm; but in CNG mode it produces just 68 kW and 122 Nm. This engine is matched to a 5-speed manual only and delivers 26.20 km/kg in CNG mode.
