We all know that a diesel variant of the Maruti Suzuki Celerio is on its way to the market and now, the hatchback has been spotted waring the DDiS badge which suggests that the launch is inching closer.

For the Celerio diesel, Maruti has developed a new 800cc, twin-cylinder, turbocharged motor producing 35 PS of peak power and will be capable of returning 30 kmpl. This will make it the most fuel efficient diesel hatchback in the market. There is no update yet if the diesel variant will also sport an AMT gearbox. This new engine will be produced at the company’s Gurgaon facility and will be shared with the upcoming Y9T pick-up truck and the Eeco as well.

The Celerio diesel is expected to be launched in early-2015. Pricing is expected to be higher than Rs. 50,000 – 70,000 variant to variant.
