Maruti Suzuki has started teasing its upcoming electric SUV, the ‘e Vitara,’ ahead of its official debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. This marks Maruti Suzuki’s entry into the electric vehicle (EV) segment in India. The e Vitara is based on the new Heartect-e platform, specifically designed for EVs.
What does the e Vitara teaser reveal?
The teaser gives a glimpse of the e Vitara’s exterior design, showcasing Y-shaped LED DRLs at the front and connected LED tail lights with 3-piece lighting elements at the rear. The SUV also features a chunky front bumper integrating fog lights and a panoramic sunroof. Inside, the teaser reveals a rotary dial control for different terrain modes and a button for the electronic parking brake.
Expected Performance and Battery Capacity
The e Vitara will be available with two battery pack options: 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The 49 kWh battery is expected to produce 142 bhp and 189 Nm of torque, while the 61 kWh battery will deliver 172 bhp and 189 Nm of torque in the 2WD model, and 181 bhp and 300 Nm of torque in the AWD model. The SUV is anticipated to offer a driving range of around 550 km on a full charge.
Other Features and Expected Price
Maruti Suzuki’s first EV will come equipped with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including a 360-degree camera, six airbags, and a dual-screen setup for infotainment and driver display. Other features include ventilated front seats, automatic AC, and a wireless phone charger.
The e Vitara is expected to be priced from INR 22 lakh (ex-showroom) and will compete with other EVs like the Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, Tata Curvv EV, and Mahindra BE 6.
The production-ready version of the India-spec e Vitara will be showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, with the launch expected shortly after. This will be Maruti Suzuki’s first EV in the Indian market.
