Maruti Suzuki Baleno fastest premium hatchback to cross 1 million sales milestone

Renowned Indian car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has announced that its Baleno premium hatchback has crossed the 1 million sales milestone. Maruti states that the Baleno is India’s fastest-selling premium hatchback thanks to its bold design, advanced features, and superior technology. According to the automaker, the Baleno has captured 25% of the market share and bagged numerous awards over the years. 

Maruti Suzuki also states that the Baleno caters to modern, self-motivated, tech-savvy, and bold Indian customers for their discerning minds. Since its launch in 2015, the Baleno has made a huge dent in the premium hatchback segment in India. The company believes that the Baleno will go on to achieve even more accolades thanks to road presence and styling.

2021 Maruti Suzuki: Detailed Highlights 

Maruti Suzuki offers the Baleno via its NEXA line of dealerships in 4 distinct variants- Sigma, Delta, Zeta, and Alpha. Maruti Suzuki has priced the base Sigma variant of the Baleno at INR 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Meanwhile, the top-spec Alpha variant of the Baleno costs INR 9.45 lakh (ex-showroom). The Baleno features a liquid-flow design with LED projector headlamps, integrated LED DRLs, and a chrome strip outlining the grille.

The Baleno sports 5 colour options- NEXA Blue, Metallic Premium Silver, Pearl Phoenix Red, Pearl Arctic White, and Metallic Magma Grey. Along with fog lamps, the premium hatchback also features 16-inch, Precision Cut alloy wheels, chrome door handles and LED taillights. Powering the Baleno is a single 1.2-litre VVT, four-cylinder petrol motor which produces 83 PS and 113 Nm.

Maruti Suzuki pairs the engine to either a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission along with mild-hybrid technology. Offering both safety and convenience, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno sports a number of features for the driver and passengers. These include UV Cut Glass, tilt and telescopic steering with mounted buttons, a 7-inch SmartPlay Studio touchscreen infotainment system.

Along with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth connectivity, the infotainment system also includes Voice Recognition. Additionally, the hatchback offers a centre armrest, 60:40 Split Rear Seats, automatic AC, auto headlamps, and reverse parking sensors. In terms of safety, Maruti Suzuki offers the Baleno with a reversing camera, dual airbags, and ABS with EBD.
