Maruti Suzuki has announced the launch of the CNG variant of the popular Alto K10. The price is set at INR 5,94,500 for the VXI CNG trim (ex-showroom).
The 3rd-generation Also was launched back in August 2022. The Alto brand has been one of the top sellers every month for many years now. The brand signifies the customer’s trust in the company. As expected, the response from the customers was excellent, and now, the carmaker has introduced the CNG variant to expand the reach of the hatchback.
Specifications of the Alto K10 S-CNG
The Alto gets the next-gen K-series 1.0L dual VVT engine. It comes with dual independent ECUs and develops a peak power of 56.69 PS @ 5,300 rpm and a maximum torque of 82.1 Nm @ 3,400 rpm. It is offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The highlight of the engine is its fuel economy of 33.85 km/kg. This would make it one of the most fuel-efficient CNG vehicles in the country.
1 million S-CNG equipped car sales
At the launch of the car, Mr. Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, commented that the carmaker had sold over 1 million CNG vehicles till date. Further, the Alto has been a best seller for over 16 years. These CNG cars have helped reduce CO2 emissions by almost 1 million tonnes. The S-CNG range has been specially designed, developed, and manufactured at the Maruti facilities to suit Indian driving conditions.
Changes in the Alto K10 S-CNG
The CNG version of the Alto comes with specific changes like a fuel lid engine cut-off switch, fire extinguisher, CNG/Petrol mode switch, CNG fuel gauge, CNG tank in the boot and modified suspension to take on the extra weight in the boot.
Currently, Maruti offers 13 CNG models. These include Alto, Alto K10, S-Presso, WagonR, Eeco, Celerio, Swift, Dzire, Ertiga, Baleno, XL6, Super Carry and Tour S.
