The Alto is Maruti’s cash cow, and has been selling in big numbers year on year, month on month. However, in the month of July, the sales dropped by 44% to 16,997 units from 30,499 units sold in the month of June 2014. Also, the Alto recently crosses the 25 lakh sales mark, and to celebrate this milestone, Maruti has launched a limited edition of the hatchback dubbed as the Alto 800 Maximum.
The limited edition Alto 800 Maximum is available with benefits up to Rs. 66,666. Features include art leather seat covers, keyless entry, rear spoiler, body decals, side body mouldings and a new stereo system.
The Alto 800 is powered by the 800cc, 3-cylinder petrol engine pumping out 47 BHP of power and 69 Nm of torque mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. One can also opt for a factory fitted bi-fuel version which can be run on CNG along with petrol.
Apart from this limited edition, one also has the option to buy the more powerful Alto K10 which is powered by a 998cc, 3-cylinder motor pumping out 67 BHP of power and 90 Nm of torque.
