The latest Bharat NCAP has brought a big smile to the Maruti Suzuki officials as the latest Dzire has scored a 5-star rating in the crash test, thus becoming the first-ever sedan to do so. Read more details regarding the test result below.

Maruti Dzire Bharat NCAP crash test details
The latest crash test of the Dzire compact sedan was done on the base 1.2 LXI 5-MT variant. However, the BNCAP states that the result applies to all the variants of the car.
Speaking of the crash test details, it scored a strong 29.46 points out of 32 for the adult occupant safety. Meanwhile, for the child occupant safety, it scored 41.57 points out of 49.
In the frontal offset barrier test, the Dzire scored 14.17 points out of 16, stated to be “Good” by the crash test agency. In the side movable offset barrier test, it scored 15.29 points out of 16, getting a “Good” remark by BNCAP.
For the pole test, the Dzire scored an “Ok” rating. However, in the vehicle assessment test, the compact sedan received 6 out of 13 points.
Mind you, the new-gen Dzire is based on the fifth-generation Heartect platform, which is also shared with the Baleno hatchback. Moreover, all of the Maruti Suzuki cars come loaded with a standard 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, ESP, and ISOFIX seats.
The current Dzire is offered with two engine options: a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.2-litre CNG. The petrol engine is further available with a 5-speed MT and a 5-speed AMT gearbox option, while the CNG engine is available with only a 5-speed MT gearbox.
Our verdict
The new-gen Dzire has stepped up the safety game and image of the company by scoring 5 stars in the Bharat NCAP. It also shows that the Japanese carmaker is focused on delivering safe cars in the Indian market. Meanwhile, the Baleno hatchback was also tested along it, which scored a 4-star BNCAP rating.
