Mahindra XUV700 still in huge demand, 2 year waiting period

Since its launch, the XUV700 has been a runaway success for Mahindra. The company also sold the first lot of the SUV within 30 minutes after opening the bookings. Even today, Mahindra continues to register around 10,000 bookings every month. Till now, there have been a total of 1.7 lakh bookings for the XUV700. The current backlog for the XUV700 stands at 78,000. Monthly sales of the XUV700 hover around the 3,800 mark. However, the sales are on a steady rise due to an improvement in the semiconductor chip supply. 

Mahindra XUV700 – Waiting Periods

Depending on the variant, the waiting period of the XUV700 ranges from 18-24 months. According to sources, the base MX petrol variant has a waiting period of three to four months. However, for the diesel-powered MX variant, it is six months. 

The other variants with around six months of waiting are AX5 petrol-automatic and AX7 petrol-manual. Next, the AX5 diesel and petrol automatic currently has a waiting period of eight months. Finally, the top-end AX7 L is the most sought after variant. It has a waiting period of eight months for the petrol automatic and ten months for the diesel automatic. However, one must note that the waiting periods may vary from city to city and dealer to dealer. Furthermore, the waiting periods can also depend on various variants and exterior colour combinations.

Despite the long waiting periods, Mahindra’s executive director mentioned that the cancellation of bookings ranges from around 10 to 12 per cent. 

Mahindra XUV700 – Price & Competition

The pricing for the Mahindra XUV700 starts at INR 13.18 lakh ex-showroom. The range tops out at INR 24.58 lakh ex-showroom. Mahindra’s flagship SUV competes with various two-row and three-row SUVs. The two-row competition includes Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Hector, Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq. Meanwhile, the three-row competition includes Tata’s Safari, Hyundai Alcazar and MG Hector Plus. The model also competes with Jeep’s recent launch, the Meridian.
