Mahindra has revealed the new XUV500 in its BS6 avatar and updated the same on their official website. The brand has not yet revealed the price of the BS6 XUV500 due to production restraints caused by the COVID-19 outbreak. The brand is expected to launch the new BS6 XUV500 as soon as health situations normalise in the country.

For BS6, the XUV500 remains largely unchanged in terms of its styling and features but looses out on the all-wheel-drive system and also its entry-level W3 trim which was launched last year in May at the price of INR 12.22 lakh ex-showroom, Mumbai. This makes the W5 trim the new base model on the BS6 XUV500.

In the engine department, the XUV500 is equipped with a 2.2-litre mHawk155 series diesel engine with an electronically controlled Variable Geometry Turbocharger (eVGT) that produces 155 ps of power and 360 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed manual gearbox or an optional 6-speed automatic transmission.

In terms of its mechanical hardware, the XUV500 features all-independent suspension with McPherson type suspension with anti-roll bar on the front and a multilink with anti-roll bar suspension on the rear. The SUV comes with disc brakes on all four wheels with ventilated discs on the front end. The XUV500 is 4,585mm in length, 1,890mm in width, 1,785mm in height and comes with a wheelbase of 2,700mm.

In terms of styling, the XUV500 gets a cheetah inspired design with a large chrome studded grille, projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, bumper integrated fog lamps, a raised bonnet, tear-duct inspired black inserts on the front fascia, diamond-cut alloy wheels in 17/18-inch depending on the model, paw styled vertical door handles, a bold character line that runs on the shoulder and flares at both the wheel arches, black roof rails, roof ridges, tailgate integrated rear spoiler, blacked-out B, C, D pillars, combination tail lamp, numberplate garnish in chrome, and dual exhaust mufflers.

The XUV500 on its interiors comes with a black dashboard with soft-touch faux leather & stitch lines, silver accents & piano black finish on the central tunnel, centrally mounted touchscreen infotainment with connectivity features, silver accented four-point steering wheel with controls, dual-pot rounded analogue-digital instrumentation cluster, quilted leather seats in tan, electrically operated sunroof etc.

The XUV500 is available in 7 exterior paint options – Crimson Red, Mystic Copper, Opulent Purple, Volcano Black, Lakeside Brown, Pearl White and Moondust Silver.
