The Safer Cars For India initiative from Global NCAP was an eye opener. Many of the leading brands with their best selling cars failed to clear the crash tests for passenger safety. However, one car which has taken the top spot is the Mahindra XUV300. Mahindra & Global NCAP reveal that among all the cars crash tested between 2014 – 2020, the XUV300 is by far the safest product to be out on sale here in India. Mahindra’s XUV300 has scored the highest occupant safety score and it remains unchallenged at the moment. Among the 38 cars crash tested by Global NCAP, the XUV300 managed to score a 5-star rating for adult passenger protection and a 4-star rating for child occupant. No other car has scored a 4-star rating or higher for child occupant safety in India.

The list below gives an idea of how well the crash tested cars have performed, and only Tata Motors with their recent range of products come close to the Mahindra XUV300.

So how has the Mahindra XUV300 managed to score this rating? It comes with a few first-in-segment features such as 7-airbags which also includes a knee airbag, all-4 disc brakes, front and rear parking sensors and heated rear view mirrors. Apart from this, the safety kit on this sub-4 metre compact-SUV includes stability program with dynamic steering torque, brake assist, traction control, hill start assist, roll over mitigation, collapsible steering column, side intrusion beam, ABS, EBD, reverse camera with dynamic guidelines, anti-theft alarm, seat belt reminder, seat belts with pre-tensioner and load-limiter, front and rear fog lamps, ISOFIX mounts for child seats, TPMS tyretronics, 3-point seat belt for all passengers, automatic headlamp and wipers, tyre direction display on MID, speed sensing door lock and impact sensing auto door unlock. All this gives the Mahindra XUV300 an edge over competition not just on paper, but in real life situation.
