Mahindra XUV300 bags 26,000 bookings, becomes 2nd best-selling compact-SUV

Mahindra and Mahindra launched its compact-SUV, the XUV300 a few months ago in India. The XUV300 has more than a few segment-leading features and now Mahindra and Mahindra has bagged more than 26,000 bookings for the compact-SUV since its launch in February 2019. In the month of April 2019, the XUV300 became the second-highest selling compact SUV among other sub-4 metre SUVs in the Indian market.

The XUV300 features a smart steering system, 7-airbags including a knee airbag, disc brakes on all four wheels, front parking sensors, seat belt reminder for all passengers, a three-point seat belt for the middle occupant in the rear seat, dual-zone climate control air-conditioning, heated ORVMs and has best-in-class torque.

The Mahindra XUV300 comes with features such as dual tone paint scheme, projector headlamps with LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, fog lamps, alloy wheels, sunroof, ORVM integrated turn signal indicators, touchscreen infotainment system, etc. In terms of safety, the XUV300 gets ABS with EBD, traction control, ESP (Electronic Safety Program), rollover mitigation, ISOFIX and more.

The two engine options powering the XUV300 are as follows:-

  • 1.2-litre, turbocharged petrol engine producing 110 BHP of power and 200 Nm of torque coupled to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
  • 1.5-litre, turbocharged diesel engine producing 115 BHP of power and 300 Nm of torque mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.

Among its three variants, ⅔ , which is 70% of the overall bookings are for the top-spec trim. The petrol variants also account a substantial share in the total bookings as the petrol variant offers best-in-segment performance as it is equipped with the 1.2-litre turbocharged engine.

The XUV300 shares its underpinnings with the SsangYong Tivoli, which is a global compact-SUV. Though the engines on the XUV300 are completely developed by Mahindra and Mahindra in India, the Tivoli is sold in more than 50 countries and has sold over 2.6 lakh units since its launch in 2015. The Tivoli has received multiple safety awards including a Grade 1 in the Korean New Car Assessment Program  (KNCAP).
