Mahindra Electric Automobile Mobility Limited has filed a design patent for its upcoming electric coupe SUV, the XUV.e9. The XUV.e9 will be based on the new EV-exclusive INGLO platform, which will also underpin the XUV.e8, the electric version of the XUV700. The XUV.e9 is expected to enter production in April 2025 and will be one of the most sporty and futuristic models in Mahindra’s next-generation EV portfolio.

XUV.e9 – What to Expect?

The design patent reveals some of the key features of the XUV.e9, such as the C-clamp shaped LED DRLs, the chiseled body panels, the sleek ORVMs with integrated turn signals, the flush door handles, and the sporty alloy wheels. The XUV.e9 will also have a coupe-like roofline, a prominently large bonnet, and aerodynamic body paneling. The XUV.e9 will share the same cabin as the XUV.e8, which will feature a triple 12.3-inch screen setup that covers almost the entire width of the dashboard and will be fully digital.

The XUV.e9 will be powered by a battery pack that will offer a range of over 400 km on a single charge. The battery pack capacity is not yet confirmed. It will also support 175 kW fast charging, which will enable it to recharge up to 80% in less than an hour. The XUV.e9 will also come with advanced tech features such as ADAS, connected car technology, and wireless charging.

The XUV.e9 will be the first electric coupe SUV from Mahindra in India and will compete with the likes of the Tata Curvv, Hyundai IONIQ 5, BYD Atto 3, and Kia EV6. It is likely to carry an expected starting price of ₹35 lakh (ex-showroom), making it one of the most premium offerings from Mahindra. The XUV.e9 will be a part of Mahindra’s ambitious plan to launch 12 new EVs by 2026, including the XUV.e8, the BE.05, and the eKUV 100.
