We have been anticipating the launch of the Mahindra electric SUVs since they were showcased last year. However, it looks like the wait might come to an end soon. Mahindra has been extensively testing the upcoming electric SUVs. Recently, two SUVs the XUV.e9 & BE.05 were spotted in Leh-Ladhakh.
XUV.e9 & BE.05 – More Details
The XUV.e9 is an electric iteration of the existing XUV700. Though under heavy camouflage we can see quite some details of the e-SUV. The SUV appears to be bulkier than the XUV700 with its bulging body lines and creases. The bonnet is also raised and gives the car a bold stance. Since this is an SUV, the grille will not have any slots for air intake. There will be a light bar over the grille and the SUV will get LED lighting all around. The XUV.e9 sports a coupe-like design and will come in a 5-seater configuration only. The SUV will supposedly get an 80 kWh battery pack that will power a dual-motor pushing close to 300 bhp and close to 500 Nm torque. The top speed will be capped at 150 kmph however, we can expect a very quick 0 to 100 kmph time. The drivetrain will be all-wheel drive and the SUV will be able to cover 500 km on a single charge.
The BE.05 is a completely new SUV built on Mahindra’s new Born Electric platform. Mahindra had promised that they would keep the production version of the BE cars very close to the concept showcased earlier. The spy shots suggest that Mahindra is keeping its promise. Upfront, it flaunts big LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), making it stand out from the EV crowd. At the rear, you’ve got some cool tail lights that ditch the usual look. The sporty roof spoiler and a small rear window add a touch of sportiness. Look from the side, and you’ll see a sleek shape with a big windshield, giving it a futuristic vibe.
Though the testing is getting intensive, we can expect the cars to be unveiled only in 2025.
