Reports on the internet suggest that Mahindra has started working on the next-generation Thar SUV.
Available in the Indian market as a lifestyle product, the Thar has its own share of fan following. The new Thar is expected to launch sometime in 2015 to fend off new competition from other manufacturers.
The current model, although excels in the off-road department, is a very crude and old-school product when compared to the price it is available at. With interiors with more creature comforts, Mahindra will be able to attract a wider audience.
The Thar is powered by a 2.5L, Crde engine producing 105 BHP of power and 247 Nm of torque mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. It is also available with a 2.5L DI engine producing 63 BHP of power and 182 Nm of torque mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The Thar is a rear-wheel driven SUV with optional 4×4.
Expect pricing to be almost at par with the current model.
