Mahindra TUV Stinger, convertible SUV displayed at Auto Expo 2018

Mahindra always displays some cool concepts at the Auto Expo. Although very few of them ever make it to production, its good to see some modification possibilities on their current lineup. At the ongoing Indian Auto Expo 2018, Mahindra’s star concept was the TUV Stinger. This convertible SUV concept based on the TUV300 looked good, but it is unlikely that such a car would make it to a Mahindra showroom anytime soon.

In sync with Mahindra’s Live Young, Live Free spirit, the TUV Stinger is a 5-seater convertible SUV unlike the base TUV300 which is a 7-seater. Mahindra is looking to attract customers who believe in ‘Be Free to Be Me’ with such a concept.

Powering the TUV Stinger was the mHawk diesel motor. This diesel engine delivers 140 BHP of power and 320 Nm of torque to this convertible concept. This is much higher than the standard 100 horsepower motor on the TUV300.

The TUV Stinger was seen sporting a large front grille, front & rear skid plate, side step, large alloy wheels, LED DRLs, grey leather upholstery, LED tail lamp, digital instrument console, touchscreen infotainment system, completely reprofiled dashboard, etc.

However, if you looked closely, the concept looked very crude. Although styling was spot on, the finishing wasn’t up to the mark. Speaks volumes that if such a concept became reality, things wouldn’t be ideal as the concept itself looking very unfinished in a time when concept cars do look like something from the future, but relatable.
