Mahindra SUVs to cost more, nearly INR 36,000

Written by Nizam Shaikh

Mahindra has announced a price hike of up to INR 36,000 across all personal vehicles effective from 1st of July 2019. The reason for the price hike is due to the safety upgrades, that will be implemented as per the automotive industry standards (AIS-145), safety norms, across all passenger vehicles in India.

The AIS 145 Safety Norms that come into effect from 1st of July 2019 mandate that all passenger vehicles be fitted with passenger safety features such as driver side airbags, seat belt reminder for both driver and co-driver, rear parking sensors, ABS and over speed alert as standard part of the pack.

The Scorpio, Bolero, TUV300 and KUV100 NXT will be affected with a substantial price hike while the XUV500 and the Marazzo prices will increase marginally. The former models receive a larger chunk in the price hike, as more equipment will be required to be fitted on them, to make them safety compliant, as compared to the latter (XUV500 and Marazzo). The other Mahindra models, XUV300 and Alturas models are expected to completely be void in the price hike as they already conform to the safety norms.

Though Mahindra has not provided a model wise break-up, here is a model wise current pricing on the above mentioned Mahindra vehicles:-

Model Price Range
Scorpio INR 9.99 lakh to INR 16.44 lakh
Bolero INR 7.17 lakh to INR 9.21 lakh
TUV300 INR 8.37 lakh to INR 10.40 lakh
