Mahindra and Mahindra Limited has released its sales performance data for December 2024, and it made a total of 69768 units of sales, which indicates 15% growth, including exports.
Further, 41424 units of utility vehicles were sold in the domestic market, which showcased a growth of 18% and overall 42958 units, including exports. Coming to the commercial vehicle segment, a total of 19502 units were sold.
Mahindra’s passenger vehicle sales performance (Domestic):
Domestic passenger car sales increased significantly in December 2024, with utility vehicles accounting for 41,424 units sold, an 18% increase over the 35,171 units sold in December 2023. In December 2024, sales of utility vehicles reached 402,360 units for the year, up 21% from 333,764 units during the same period the year before. Car and van sales in December 2024 were extremely low, with only three units sold, a 100% decrease from 0 units sold in December 2023 and 13 units sold so far in CY 2024, down from 0 units sold in CY 2023.
In total, passenger car sales in December 2024 were 402,360 units, up 21% from 333,777 units the year before, and 41,424 units, up 18% from 35,174 units in December 2023.
Mahindra’s commercial vehicle and three-wheeler sales performance:
Domestic sales of 3-wheelers and commercial vehicles performed inconsistently in December 2024. Compared to December 2023, when 2,849 Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV) under 2 tonnes were sold, sales of these vehicles fell by 15% to 2,409 units. LCVs under 2 tonnes saw a 10% decline in year-to-date (YTD) sales, going from 31,896 units in CY 2023 to 28,634 units in CY 2024. However, there was a good trend in the sales of LCVs weighing between 2 and 3.5 tonnes, which increased by 16% to 16,139 units in December 2024 from 13,958 units in December 2023.
This segment’s year-to-date sales increased by 4%, from 154,319 units in CY 2023 to 159,738 units in CY 2024. Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles (MHCV) and LCVs over 3.5 tonnes saw a 12% drop in sales in December, selling 954 units as opposed to 1,081 units the year before. This category’s year-to-date sales fell 4% from 9,359 units in CY 2023 to 9,021 units in CY 2024. Last but not least, sales of 3-wheelers, including electric models, increased by 8% in December, reaching 5,750 units sold, up from 5,307 units in December 2023. Year-to-date, sales have increased by 6%, increasing to 64,233 units in CY 2024 from 60,503 units in CY 2023.
