Mahindra Scorpio crosses 9 lakh production milestone

Mahindra is celebrating a new milestone. The 9,00,000th unit of the Scorpio SUV rolled out of the Indian manufacturer’s facility in Chakan, on the outskirts of Pune.

Mahindra Scorpio : A timeline

The first-gen Scorpio was introduced back in 2002 in India. In 2003, the SUV was sold in Italy as the Goa. Due to the successful demand, the Scoprio received a minor update with new feature additions. In 2006, the facelift was introduced. In 2007, a pickup version called as the Getaway was launched. Later in 2008, a 6-speed automatic gearbox was introduced.

In 2009, the second facelift was launched. WIth this, Mahindra launched the updated Scorpio Getaway in Australia.

The third facelift was introduced in 2014. In 2022, the second-gen Scorpio was launched with the previous generation being sold alongside as the Classic. The Scorpio has now become a household name in India, especially in the places where the terrain gets tough.

Mahindra Scorpio N : More details

The Scorpio-N is available in five trims namely, Z2, Z4, Z6, Z8 and Z8 L. Scorpio-N is positioned above the previous generation model, which is rebranded as the Scorpio Classic. All variants of the Scorpio-N come with a 7-seat configuration. Meanwhile, the top-spec Z8 L variant is available with an optional 6-seat layout featuring captain seats in the second row.

The SUV gets an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a 6-way power-adjustable driver seat, an electric sunroof, a rearview camera, cruise control and wireless charging.

Based on a ladder-frame chassis, the Scorpio-N is available with two powertrain options. First is a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. The unit makes 198 BHP and 380 Nm. The second engine is a 2.2-litre diesel. This motor makes 173 BHP and 400 Nm. As for the transmission options, customers have the option to choose from a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. To add to the off-road capabilities, select variants comes equipped with a four-wheel drive system.
