The SsangYong Rexton, sold by Mahindra as their flagship product has been recalled in India. All units of this premium SUV by or before September 2014 have been called back to rectify a problem with the rear driveshaft.

The reason for this recall is Mahindra wanting to inspect if there is any kind of torque loss in the rear driveshaft. Inspection and replacement / rectification would be done free of cost for all the recalled vehicles. Mahindra will individually contact customers to bring their vehicles to the nearest service station.

No complaints have been raised so far due to this issue and Mahindra claims that this is a proactive recall.

Prices of the SsangYong Rexton in India range between Rs. 21.05 lakh – 24.86 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Powering the Rexton is a 2.7L, 5-cylinder diesel engine available in two states of tune producing 162 BHP & 340 Nm or 184 BHP & 402 Nm.

Off late, the Rexton has been completely lost in the Indian market with barely any new copies being sold.
