Mahindra could be planning to add a manufacturing unit in Maharashtra soon. Reports reveal that the company could be looking for a new piece of land where the brand is likely to open up a new production facility which could house its future multi-energy platform. This will allow the brand to expand its production capacity and also add the future multi energy models and its born electric cars in the near future.
3 Lakh t0 5 Lakh Capacity Increase
Currently, Mahindra has an annual production capacity of 8 lakh units. To expand this, the company is looking for land parcels around Chakan and Aurangabad in India. This is in lieu of all-new future product range that Mahindra is planning to introduce. These new platforms will require a production capacity range from 3 lakh units to 5 lakh units per annum. Mahindra existing facilities in Chakan and Nashik are not able to accommodate the extra load on the production line.
In 2022, Mahindra expanded its manufacturing capacity from 30,000 units to 49,000 units per month. Also, reports reveal that Mahindra is aiming to reach to a capacity of 64,000 units by the end of this fiscal. By the year 2026, Mahindra could be planning to further increase the capacity to 72,000 units taking the overall capacity to more than 8.64 lakh units.
