Mahindra has achieved a significant milestone in India’s electric vehicle market, delivering 10,000 units of its Born Electric SUVs—the XEV 9e and BE 6—within just 70 days. The deliveries began on March 20, 2025, and the rapid adoption of these models highlights growing consumer confidence in Mahindra’s EV lineup.
Strong demand for electric powertrain and market impact
Mahindra’s Born Electric SUVs have received over 30,000 bookings, valued at ₹8,472 crore, demonstrating strong demand across metro cities, tier-2 towns, and even rural regions. The XEV 9e accounts for 56% of total bookings, while the BE 6 holds 44%2.
The swift adoption of these SUVs signals a broader shift in India’s automotive landscape, with more buyers prioritizing sustainability, innovation, and performance.
Electric performance and safety ratings
Both the XEV 9e and BE 6 are built on Mahindra’s INGLO architecture, co-developed with Volkswagen. This platform enables:
- Long-range capability, ensuring over 500 km per charge.
- Ultra-fast charging, allowing 10-80% charge in under 30 minutes.
- ADAS safety tech, including lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and collision prevention systems.
Additionally, both SUVs have secured five-star Bharat NCAP safety ratings, making them among the safest EVs in India.
Pricing and availability
Mahindra has priced the XEV 9e and BE 6 between ₹18.90 lakh and ₹30.50 lakh, making them competitive in the premium EV segment. Deliveries have begun in key metro cities, with further rollouts planned over the coming months.
