Key highlights

  • Pack Two adds a 79 kWh pack, lifts real‑world range to 500 km
  • BE 6 starts at INR 21.90 lakh; XEV 9e tops out at INR 26.50 lakh
  • 20–80 % DC recharge in 20 minutes, 210 kW peak power on bigger pack

Mahindra will begin dispatching Pack Two units of the BE 6 and XEV 9e from the final week of July. The big news is the arrival of a 79 kWh battery that slots above the existing 59 kWh pack. Claimed city ranges climb to 500 km and 400 km respectively. Both packs accept up to 175 kW DC, slicing the 20–80 % wait to around twenty minutes.

Pricing and trims

The BE 6 opens at INR 21.90 lakh with 59 kWh and jumps to INR 23.50 lakh for 79 kWh. The more tech‑laden XEV 9e costs INR 24.90 lakh and INR 26.50 lakh. A wall box remains optional at either 7.2 kW or 11.2 kW. Standard kit covers six airbags, Level 2 ADAS, adaptive cruise, heated glass roof, 16‑speaker Harman Kardon audio with Dolby Atmos, and one‑pedal driving. BE 6 also borrows sage leatherette and an ivory headliner from the pricier Pack Three, while the XEV 9e keeps its triple‑screen dash.

Motors and hardware

Choose 79 kWh and you unlock a 210 kW e‑motor; stick with 59 kWh and output peaks at 170 kW. Both variants ride on Mahindra’s Electric Origin skateboard, using MacPherson struts up front and a five‑link rear with frequency‑dependent damping. Turning circle stays a tidy 10 m despite 19‑inch aero wheels.

How the rivals line up

Tata’s new Harrier EV ranges from INR 21.49 lakh to INR 28.99 lakh and cites up to 622 km ARAI range, though its rapid‑charge window is 28 minutes. BYD’s CKD Atto 3 sits higher at INR 33.99 lakh with 521 km claim but slower 88 kW charging. MG’s ZS EV undercuts the BYD but uses a smaller 50.3 kWh pack with a 461 km figure. Mahindra positions itself neatly between Tata and the imports, offering quicker charging than either.

Market context

Electric SUV sales rose 47 % YoY in FY25, with midsize models grabbing the bulk. Analysts expect battery prices to dip below $90 per kWh by mid‑2026, a tailwind Mahindra hopes to ride as it readies two more Electric Origin launches.
