Made-in-India BS6 Honda SP125 will be exported to Europe via CKD route

Honda 2Wheelers India started exports from India in 2001 with its debut model Activa. Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) has now announced that the brand will be exporting the Honda SP125 motorcycle to the European market. The motorcycle is exported via the CKD route. The brand revealed that over 2000 CKD kits of the next-generation 125cc motorcycle the Honda SP125 have already been dispatched to Europe, since August 2020. The challenge of transitioning from BS4 to BS6 emission norms has been converted into an opportunity by exporting the BS6/Euro5 compliant vehicles to advanced markets. The brand is also looking forward to expanding to other markets in the near future, in line with its commitment to a global footprint. 

The Honda SP125 is powered by a BS6/Euro5 compliant 124cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, air-cooled engine producing 10.7 Hp of power and 10.9 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed gearbox. The Honda SP125 measures 2020 mm in length, 785 mm in width, 1103 mm in height, 1285mm of the wheelbase, 160 mm in ground clearance, 790 mm for saddle height, 11-litres of fuel tank capacity and 117 kg (Drum Brake) -118 kg (Disc Brake) of weight at the kerb. 

The Honda SP 125 is positioned in the commuter segment and features 19 new patents. The brand claims that the motorcycle can deliver 16% more mileage as compared to the 125cc HET engine. The Honda SP125 also features LED headlamps, digital instruments console with real-time mileage, average fuel economy, distance to empty, etc. Other features include an engine start/stop switch, Eco Indicator, gear position indicator and premium colour and graphics. The Honda SP125 is available in both disc & drum brake variants.

 The Honda SP125 is currently being manufactured at Honda 2Wheelers, Tapukara Production Facility in Rajasthan. The brand has an export portfolio of 18 two-wheeler models in 25 diverse export markets led by Asia, the Middle East and Latin America. The Honda SP125 is priced starting from INR 75,010 ex-showroom, Delhi for the Drum brake version and INR 79,210 ex-showroom, Delhi for the Disc brake version.
