LIVE! Hyundai reveals AH2 compact car – the new Santro

Santro was first launched in 1998, after 20 years, Hyundai is bringing back a new car for this segment. Hyundai launched a ‘Naamkaran’ campaign asking car enthusiasts to suggest a name for the AH2 compact car. The top name was leading with 66% votes, compared to other options. Over $100 million have been invested for this product.

The car will be called the all-new Santro. Hyundai says the Legend is Back. The world premiere of the car will happen on October 23rd, 2018. Bookings will open for INR 11,000 onwards for the first 50,000 customers from tomorrow till 22nd October, 2018. The all-new Santro will  be built in India, and shipped across the world.

Hyundai has sold over 1.86 million units of the Santro till date. The new car is modern, stylish and will come with all the latest features.

The new Hyundai Santro will come with ‘Smart Auto AMT’. The car is longer, taller and wider. Also, it will come with optional factory fit CNG kit.

Rear seat has been developed with a lot of attention to detail to offer optimum comfort and support on the go.

The all-new Santro will get the signature cascade grille, chrome accents, front fog lamps, tail lamps similar in design to Grand i10, tall boy design, 17.64 cm touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Car Play and Android Auto, reverse parking camera, and the likes. The new Santro will also get a patented ‘Eco Coating Technology’ which will prevent unpleasant odour in the cabin. The new Santro will also get a first-in-segment rear AC vents. Black, beige and champagne gold inserts for premium feel in the cabin.

1.1L petrol engine with 69 PS of power & 99.04 Nm of torque. This 4-cylinder motor will deliver 20.3 kmpl of mileage on manual and AMT gearbox option. The engine will use low friction engine oil for better performance and fuel efficiency.

The CNG version based on the same 1.1L petrol motor will produce 59 PS of power and 84.33 Nm of torque in CNG mode. The car will sport dual ECU for the CNG variants and the CNG tank will be of 8 kg capacity.

The new Santro is built with 63% high strength steel and will come with ABS, EBD & driver airbag as standard on all variants.

Hyundai will offer 3 years / 1,00,000 km warranty and 3 years of RSA for the Santro. Doorstep service facility will also be on offer.
