Lexus plans to sell second hand cars in India

Luxury carmaker Lexus is looking to enter into the used car segment. According to a media report, the Japanese carmaker is looking to start used car sales from some of its existing outlets.

Currently, the company is under the evaluation stage. However, this could start as early as the fourth quarter of 2023 or early 2024. Initially, this programme will be launched only with select dealer partners. Before that however, Lexus India will take into consideration the business viability of its dealer.

Lexus started its India operations six years ago. Since then, it is possible that the initial lot of customers want to upgrade their rides. Today, Lexus has 23 outlets. Amongst these, there is a possibility for some to transition to the used car business.

Apart from this, the company also plans to introduce a short buy-back scheme for customers to gain confidence.

Lexus Portfolio in India

At present, Lexus offers a few premium models in India, including SUVs, sedans and sports cars.. These are the NX, RX and LX SUVs. In sedans the company offers ES and LS and the LC500h is the flagship sports car. The company is also considering launching an all-electric car by 2025.

Lexus TX : More Details

Luxury carmaker Lexus has recently introduced the company’s first 3-row SUV in the North American market. The Lexus TX is touted as a replacement to the LX600. The TX comes with a traditional Lexus spindle grille but with a few changes. There are now horizontal elements added to the traditional looking grille. The TX has also been designed with aerodynamics in mind.

Powertrain options include three engines with all-wheel drive and strong hybrid options well. The all-electric range on the hybrid is claimed to be 53 km. The top-of-the-line variant comes with rear wheel steering as well.
