Luxury car maker Lexus has launched the LX 500D SUV in India. The luxury SUV is priced at INR 2.82 crore, ex-showroom. The first batch of the cars have been scheduled for delivery between January and March 2023. Lexus will also be participating at the Auto Expo 2023 in Greater Noida for the first time. The Japanese car maker plans to display the LX 500D, RX SUV and the LC Coupe.

Lexus LX500D : Exteriors

The LX 500D is nothing but a more sophisticated and luxurious version of the Toyota Land Cruiser LC300. Changes on the outside include a Lexus grille at the front, typical Lexus headlamps, squared off wheel arches, and large alloys.

Slight changes to the body have also been made. The rear quarter glasses are unique to the LX 500D. The rear gets a full-width light bar and large Lexus lettering instead of the L-logo.

On the inside, the carmaker has offered a choice of multiple upholstery colours. These include tan, red, black and a white & brown combination. We will also get only the 5-seat variants. Internationally though the SUV is available in both 5 and 7-seat configurations.

The Lexus LX500D also gets a dual touchscreen set up. The top unit is a 12.3-inch unit that is the main infotainment unit while the lower 7-inch one shows AC controls and off-road data. The instrument cluster is an 8.0-inch unit with multi-information display. Rear occupants, too, get dual 11.6-inch infotainment touchscreen units with wireless remote control.

Lexus LX 500D : Powertrain

While the last-generation Lexus LX was offered in both petrol and diesel engine options, the current SUV will come with only a single diesel engine. The 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 diesel engine is the same as the recently launched Land Cruiser LC300. It makes 309 HP and 700 Nm of peak torque. It is paired with a 10-speed automatic gearbox.

All-wheel drive is standard and the car gets multi-terrain modes for off-roading. Multiple drive modes are also offered. These include Normal, Eco, Comfort, Sport S, Sport S+ and a custom mode.
