Lexus launches Made-in-India ES 300h & LC 500h sports coupe

Lexus has made quite a statement today here in the Indian market with the locally built ES 300h hybrid sedan. The brand also launched their new flagship product for our market which is the LC 500h coupe. The Lexus ES 300h is produced locally under the brands parts and components category and the brand is also working towards adding 4 new touch points soon to make their cars more accessible. Lexus started retail sales in India in March 2017 and rival the likes of Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, BMW and Audi in India. Production locally here in India for the ES 300h has started from January 2020 and the cars will be delivered from February 2020 onwards.

The 3 new models which were launched apart from the local production news included the LC 500h Coupe, ES 300h Exquisite and the NX 300h Exquisite. The Exquisite variants are now newly launched on the ES & NX. All of these models announced today, the ES 300h, LC 500hand the NX 300h are BS6 compliant.

Powering the Lexus LC 500h is a 3.5L, V6, 4-cam 24-valbe petrol motor producing 220 kW of peak power @ 6600 RPM and has a max torque of 350 Nm @ 5100 RPM. The hybrid system motor has a max power of 132 kW and max torque of 300 Nm resulting in a total system output of 264 kW. The engine is matched to a 4-speed automatic with CVT gearbox and sprints from 0-100 kmph in 4.7 seconds. The LC 500h Coupe although a 2-door coupe, has seating space for 4 but not really very generous rear seats.

Lexus currently sells the ES & LS sedan models along with NX, RX & LX SUVs. The LC makes the brands entry in the sportscar category, but this one is quite expensive. But then, money does bring to you this stunning design which will surely turn heads, and isn’t that the whole point of buying a luxury sportscar? Apart from driving fast and having a good time of course…
